You remember, the red '72 Mach 1 in the James Bond movie with Sean Connery and Jill St. John {mmmmm}?

That was another Mustang that kicked butt!

A year ago or so there was an article in either MF,MM or MI from a guy claiming he has it, although there remained some doubts, if I remember right. Wasn't it a 71?

Funny this should come up...

Paul Newitt just sent me an article he wrote and I think it was on this exact car. I'll try to find it tonight and post more info.

I just watched the car chase scene frame-by-frame and I couldn't tell if the MUSTANG on the tail lid was block or script, then I noticed the stainless steel pop-open gas cap, which is a '71 Mach 1 feature only.

You guys are right. It's a '71.

That's a great chase scene, though. That Mustang kicks butt with those cop cars!

There were different cars used in the movie. The main car, which was used in the chase and driving scenes, was a 429 ram air car. The car used for the two wheel stunt was a 351-4v car. The 429 ram air car had the hood painted red to match the other cars. This information came from an article in Mustang Monthly. The article was published within the last year or two.
