Since my old cleveland engine block cracked I have been working on a new combo. So far this is where I stand. D2AE-CA t bolt main block bored to .030. TRW forged flat top pistons with standard D0AE rods that have been cleaned up with ARP rod bolts. D1AE-GA closed chamber 4V heads with adjustable valve train. Roller rockers with mechanical crane cam .554/.577 lift at .050 with 238/248 duration. Weiand X-celerator single plane intake with 750 double holley carb. Mallory comp 9000 distributor with MSD box and MSD blaster coil. Engine bolts onto a C-6 with 9" 4:57 rear end. Now the questions: What size of stall would you recommend I'm figuring around 3500? Is a 750 holley enough? I have a morosso oil restrictor kit to put in. What other oil mods should I have done? Well, the post is now yours. What am I missing or forgotten in the post?

Poor distributor choice. Given the good units available in todays market, there are far more efficiant ones than the Mallory. C-6 wiil rob to much horsepower. If you already have it, then it's to late to change now without severe expense. You will need a converter closer to 4500. The rule of thumb is 2000 RPM stall less than your maximum top end RPM. Cam and gears are OK. Alex

I have question, is that a race car, street car that will see race duty once in a while or is it srtip car that will see street duty once in a while?
I'm going to assume that is a racer that'll see some srteet duty. First the distributer is a bad choice like Moneymaker said. All I run on both my street(70 fastback) and race(69 fastback) is the MSD billet, both have 351 clevelands.
Secondly 4400-4600 for a convertor would be right but for street use make sure you put a BIG cooler on it plus a dedicated electric fan for that cooler. I found out the hard way and cooked a trans becouse of too much heat street driving. Even if doesn't see street use s big cooler is better so that's a win win situation. The c6 is bad power robber that'll slow you down about .3 over a c4 in the 1/4. I would probably think of more camshaft, the big heads like it better plus with flattops and the closed chamber heads you'll be close to 11-1, a little steep for most pump gas. A bigger cam with a little more overlap would help bleed some of the compression off at lower rpms.
On the oiling, I run melling hi-vol pump with the moroso spring installed, plus the restrictor kit and nothing but synthetic oil. The stock oiling system is bad and the synthetic helps.
The 750 DP should be fine, but if you go to change, I would look at a 950 HP. I ran one for 3 years on the race car and it was .3 faster in the 1/8 than my 750. But my 750 was a annular discharge so that might've been part of that.
One more thing, the Hooker Super Comp headers might be expensive, but they are worth .2 in the 1/4. ( the 1 7/8 primary w/ 3 1/5 collectors) If you can afford it don't worry about the big tubes, I'm currently running mine on 2v heads and it didn't hurt performance one bit.
That's enuff for now. keep us posted.
