Alright guys,
I am wavering on the cam choice for my motor...
right now, I am about set on a custom ground cam from lazer cams out of memphis... it specs out @ 251/254 @.050 294/295 adv. .628/.636 lift

My brain and gut are telling the motor will be waaaaaaaaaay over cammed ....

The problem is that when I called the comp tech line, they spec`d the 306S which is [email protected] and .640 lift...

I have tried numerous times to get through to crane, lunati, clay smith and ultradyne...

My gut tells me I want about [email protected] and about .570-.590 lift..
I want solid lifters, compression will be just a touch over 10:1, and pump gas (off the bottle) is preferable and other goals are:
10's on the bottle (200 horse shot)
low 12's N/A
street driveable (3X times a week)
idle somewhere under 1K in gear (with 4 corner idle circuitry)

I feel to attain my E.T goals, realistically a redline of about 7200-750 isn't unreasonable...
I also believe, though not the bst for nitrous, that a 108 Lsa wil lbe needed to drop the dynamic Compression.

Rear gear is 4.11's, trans is a c-4 convertor will be picked after the cam, slicks look like they will be 26x8's, I don't think I need the 28x10's yet...

any thoughts? (feel free and call me an idiot, I probably deserve it )

TIA

Your cam should be close to over cammed for the street. I run a Comp cam custom grind. Duration is 246 int. 256 ex. @50 lift is .571 int .605 ex. valve lash is .020 I have a torquer intake and 850 holley closed chamber 4bbl. heads.(cleanedup) I run a Ross flat top piston compression is just under 11:1 All this is in a 3650 # 73 Mustang that has been a best of 11.74@ 116.82 mph. Peak power was at 6800 and I shift @7000

Go with the 112 lobe center, it will calm it down a bit for n/a and will be a ton happier on the jug. I wouldn't worry too much about it being overcammed, that Clevy motor likes alot of cam. At 10 to 1 it shouldn't rattle with that much stick at 112.

I have the comp 294S in my 4v cleveland. I am very happy with it my spings are too small right now but the engine pulls hard past 7000 till the springs float out. I drive it quite a bit, and when its tuned up it will idle about 800 in neutral( I have a four speed).
Cam specs are [email protected] and .605 lift 110 lobe sep. it is single pattern.
