MellowYellow's '65 GT and '68 Mustang Convertibles
'65 GT Convertible A code
The original color was Tropical Turquoise code O with white Pony interior.
Originally a 225 HP 289 with C4 automatic, factory GT package, power steering,
factory A/C {owner installed}, Rally Pac, console, and styled wheels.
The engine and transmission was missing when car was purchased
The original appearing engine is actually an '89 HO 5.0 roller lifter engine
that has: B303 cam, balanced lower end, ported heads, ARP rod bolts, forged pistons,
high volume oil pump, Total Performance damper and flexplate {which is compatible
to the C4 automatic}. This was a Ford Motorsports engine. The carb is a 600 CFM Edelbrock.
Externally, the engine has a '65 aluminum water pump, fuel pump, distributor with
Petronic ignition and steel gear to make it compatible with the roller cam. It has
the early Cobra intake, HiPo exhaust manifolds, early over-the-counter Cobra dress up
kit, with air cleaner, and polished Cobra valve covers. Note: when these kits were
purchased at Ford parts counters, the Cobra emblems were also included--Note badge on fenders.
3/8" billet aluminum spacers were made by owner to allow covers to fit over large rocker arms.
The tranmission is a modified C4 with a Trans-Go shift kit. The differential is a 3.00 Limited Slip
that is just crying for taller gears! The suspension is all new with KYB gas shocks, 1" front sway
bar, 5/8" rear sway bar, stock springs in the front, mid-eye leaf springs, export brace and Monte Carlo bar.
Exhaust is stock GT with turbo mufflers
