'79 Futura Sport Coupe

Plans for my Fairmont have been to build it into a solid street/strip/show car. I'm in the process of fabricating ground effects panels that, when finished, will resemble the 87-93 Mustang GT panels. Other body mods include a U.S. Body Source flat hood that's going to require the addition of a cowl induction scoop at some point, and rear deck spoiler. Suspension mods include HP Megabite Jr LCAs in the rear, and D&D tubular A-arms, K-member, and coilover shocks up front, along with a Flaming River manual rack. The rear end is a 9-inch with 3.70 gears. Tires and wheels are M/T Sportsman fronts, with either Goodyear radials or M/T ET Streets in the rear, wrapped around Cragar Drag Stars.

The car is currently powered by a factory 351C short block, utilizing Aussie 302C 2V heads. Comp Cams supplied most of the valvetrain pieces, including a Magnum 280H cam, springs, and retainers. Induction is by way of a Weiand X-celerator, 750 Holley and K&N air cleaner. Other add-ons include Motorsport tall aluminum valve covers and roller rockers, MSD Pro Billet distributor and 6-AL box, Taylor 8mm wires, and home-built oil pan. Transmission is a C6 with 10-inch converter, TCI deep pan, shift kit/internals, and safety shield. Exhaust is taken care of with ProMustang long-tube headers, full 3" exhaust, and Flowmaster 3-chamber mufflers. Future plans include adding mass air EFI and a 393 stroker.

The interior is pretty simple...a pair of plastic seats, custom aluminum fabricated gauge panel housing
Autometer gauges, home-made subframe connectors, and the beginnings of an 8-point roll bar.
