My 1970 Mach 1

Sure is a blast having this car in the shop to look at. Often when the job gets long I look over at it and get recharged again.

I bought a reproduction door tag from Marti Automotive. It looks exact, but I'm a bit disappointed with the bleeding of the
letters. I heard a company named ECS Automotive makes better tags and I might try them out. Another $29 in the dumper.
I took pictures of the old tag, so this one is placed in the same exact spot as the original.

Say "Ahhh..."

The reproduction grille had a very plastic appearance so I scuffed it off and painted with a textured black and like the
hood stripe, which it matches very well, I think it looks great. It's a bit of a departure from the 'correct' lighter argent
it is supposed to be but it makes the car look badass. I also strayed from correctness with the accent paint on the lower
grille molding. I painted it a dark charcoal metallic, a color I also used to paint the diecast rocker 'Mach 1' moldings,
and the effect is very dramatic and accents the metallic blue paint perfectly, at least to my eyes. The hoods on '69-'70
Mustangs seem to not align well with the headlight extensions as you can see in the above photo. It's a quirk of these
cars, I believe. Some use radical means to correct it, like bending the front of the hood to make it match. I just adjusted
it as close as possible and moved on. Happily, the front reproduction bumpers fit much better than the rears do.

The diecast 'Mach 1' rocker moldings were cleaned, repaired and painted dark charcoal metallic, a very rich color.

We also installed new moldings which really make the repainted moldings pop.

Getting there!

I always wanted Magnum 500s wheels, so I added them and BF Goodrich T/A Radials in 2008

Sizes are 225/60-15 on 15x7 in front and 275/60-15 on 15x8s in the rear.
